Miranda Lambert Thanks Fans for ‘Sharing My Broken Heart With Me’ at ACMs

As Miranda Lambert was making history on Sunday night at the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards, she took a minute to honor her fans.

The 34-year-old singer took the stage to accept the Song of the Year award for “Tin Man” and declared, “Thank you guys so much for sharing my broken heart with me.”

The sentiment is similar to Lambert’s Album of the Year acceptance speech in 2017, when she said, “I just want to say thank you for letting me use my heartbreak and sharing that with me.”

“Tin Man” is an emotional ballad about wishing one doesn’t have a heart so it can’t be broken. Lambert's heartfelt acceptance speech comes less than a month after news broke that she had split from her boyfriend of two years, Anderson East.

The couple had been dating since 2015, following the country crooner's split from ex-husband Blake Shelton earlier that year. Shelton attended the ACMs with his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, by his side.

The exes were careful not to cross paths, and Shelton and Stefani were spotted cuddling in the audience earlier in the show.

Lambert also won the award for Female Vocalist of the Year, giving her the all-time record of 32 awards, more than any artist ever at the ACMs.

“I really can’t believe it,” she told reporters backstage. “I just always try to live in the moment I’m in and then make myself better and try to be better. I try to reinvent and try to be a better writer and a better singer and a better performer and better person all around, I guess, so I don’t dwell on the past.”

She also called out the fact that there were no females nominated in this year’s Entertainer of the Year category, saying, “Carrie [Underwood]’s kicking a**, and I’m trying to kick a** as much as I can on the road, so I don’t understand what’s going on with that, but I know that there’s going to be a change. And I know if we just keep plowing ahead it will get recognized and have its moment for sure.”
