Milksha's bubble tea store at Suntec City opens on 22 June; Funan Mall outlet opens on 28 June
Taiwanese bubble tea chain Milksha has come to Singapore, and it will open a flagship outlet first at Suntec City Mall on Saturday (22 June), then a second outlet at Funan Mall on 28 June.
The brand is known as “Milkshop” in Taiwan and “Milksha” outside of Taiwan. It currently has over 230 outlets in Taiwan, as well as 20 outlets in China and two in Hong Kong.
Milksha’s brand mission is “natural, handmade and unique milk beverages”, and it uses only fresh milk instead of creamer. It takes pride in not using any preservatives or artificial colouring in their drinks.
Joseph Lim, general manager of Sinpoint Holdings, which holds the Milksha franchise in Singapore, told Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore, “Milkshop International started off in 2004. The founder Kevin Lim was actually a dairy farmer. He started off farming, milking cows and selling his milk, and later decided to set up his beverage brand, using milk as the main ingredient.”
Another key ingredient of Milksha is its honey boba pearls, which are frozen as soon as they are cooked, and air-flown to Singapore. The quick-freeze technology maintains the chewy texture of the pearls.
Lim said, “The cooking time for the pearls takes about 40 to 50 minutes, after which we immerse the pearls in honey. It takes another hour for the pearls to soak in the honey to get the flavour from the honey. They’re lightly sweet but it's not the kind of sweetness that feels very heavy.”
Milksha’s five signature beverages are Azuki Matcha Milk, Fresh Taro Milk, Refreshing Orange Green Tea, Earl Grey Latte with Honey Pearl and Valrhona 100% Cocoa Milk.
