Miley Cyrus claims she invented nipple pasties

Miley Cyrus has claimed she "invented" nipple pasties over six years ago.

The 26-year-old recently shared a photo from her Bangerz album launch party in 2013 on Instagram, with the snap showing her wearing white ripped jeans and a white cropped shirt on the red carpet.

Visible underneath her long-sleeved mesh top were some flower-shaped nipple covers, which Miley cheekily took credit for in the caption.

"On this very day 6 years ago... I invented Nipple Pasties," she wrote.

However, Miley has seemingly forgotten about the iconic look Lil' Kim sported back at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards, where she wore a one-shouldered mermaid-inspired purple catsuit with a sequin nipple pasty on show.

The Wrecking Ball hitmaker has recently been celebrating the sixth anniversary of her fourth studio album with a series of posts on social media.

"Happy 6 year anniversary #Bangerz !!!! Here's to 6 more years of p**sing people off!" the singer joked. "6 years ago, my life changed forever. Bangerz is 6 years old. Wasn't even 21 when I dropped this record! Couldn't drink but f**kkkkk I partied (sic)!"

Miley also shared photos from the album release party on Instagram, and said she was "really drunk" at the bash in New York, despite being underage.

Her throwback posts come hours after she was released from hospital, with it reported that she had been suffering from a nasty bout of tonsillitis.

The star also confirmed her romance with new boyfriend Cody Simpson, shortly after ending her rebound relationship with Kaitlynn Carter.

Miley split from husband Liam Hemsworth in August.
