Michelle Obama stuns in yellow gown as she honours Lin-Manuel Miranda

Yellow has always been a key shade in the former First Lady’s wardrobe.
She often opts for darker shades but for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s gala at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery, she picked a lemon - with almost a hint of lime - gown, instead.
The silk gown was custom made with a Schiaparelli crystal bodice from the brand’s autumn/winter range draped over it.
It marks the first time Michelle Obama has worked with the fashion house.

She was there to support her friend, Lin-Manuel Miranda, who was receiving the Portrait of a Nation prize.
In a heartfelt Instagram post about the Hamilton creator, she wrote: “I first met Lin more than a decade ago, when he came to the White House to perform the opening number from what he described as a “concept album.” And, as we all know, his little concept, Hamilton, became a global phenomenon.”
“But what I love most is that he believes it’s his duty to lift up those around him, especially the next generation.”
“It’s why he’s created a Hamilton curriculum for schools, made sure kids from all over can see his shows, and raised millions of dollars for Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. And it’s why he is working so hard to make sure folks are voting in every election and using that freedom that so many fought so hard for.”
He’s someone who has, in melody and rhyme and connection, painted as honest a portrait of our country as I’ve ever seen. Love this guy.”

This is the second yellow dress of hers to receive mass appreciation recently.
Last year, the former FLOTUS wore a striking Balenciaga wrap dress with £3,000 thigh-high sparkling Balenciaga boots, to an interview about her bestselling book, Becoming.
At the time she discussed her clothing choices with interviewer, none other than Sarah Jessica Parker: “We decided why don’t we use this platform to uplift some young new designers who normally wouldn’t get this kind of attention, because you can change their lives, which is one of the reasons why we chose Jason Wu for my inaugural gown.”
