Michelin Bib Gourmand 2024 adds 11, including Jln Sultan Prawn Mee & Margaret Drive Sin Kee Chicken Rice
Eh. What are you eating today?
This is the reply to that hard-to-answer question. As we await the announcement of the complete Michelin Stars lineup on 25 June, Michelin Guide has officially unveiled Singapore’s Michelin Bib Gourmand 2024 List.

Fun fact, “Bib Gourmand” is rooted in comforting, value-for-money yet exceptional food. From familiar faces to promising players, our diverse list of Michelin Bib entrants spans a grand total of 81 stalls with 11 new entries. A small bump from 79 last year.
While 9 are newcomers to the Guide, 2 are promoted from the Michelin Selected Category (stalls which nearly qualified for Michelin Bib Gourmand or Michelin Star)! Without further ado, cue Jalan Sultan Prawn Mee and Ru Ji Kitchen.
1. Jalan Sultan Prawn Mee

With over 70 years of operation under its belt, Jalan Sultan Prawn Mee at Geylang is not hae-ing around. Available as both soup and dry, their straightforward prawn mee menu consists of a solid combination of King Prawns, Prawns, Pork Ribs and Noodles. While their prawn broth is perfumed with an umami-filled natural sweetness, the dry version is served with a side of sambal and fried scallion.
Also! Do not miss their ngoh hiang, customers specifically swear by the Prawn Crackers.
2. Ru Ji Kitchen

Occupying 2 adjoining stalls at Holland Drive Market & Food Centre, Ru Ji Kitchen is said to sell the bounciest fish balls in the vicinity. Specialising in both fish ball noodles and bak chor mee, the 2-stall titan hand-makes their yellowtail fish balls on the spot. Don’t believe that these balls are made from scratch? Well, its inconsistent shape is a telltale sign.
Meanwhile, their al dente mee pok is topped with savoury pork lard and best enjoyed with their dash of vinegar-like chilli.
You’ve met the 2 kena-promoted stalls. Now, here are the 9 New Entrants of Michelin Bib Gourmand 2024 in alphabetical order.
3. Chef Kang’s Noodles

Helmed by Chef Kang himself, Chef Kang’s Noodles is located in a nondescript canteen in Toa Payoh. BTW, the chef also owns a Michelin-Starred restaurant called Chef Kang’s Kitchen.
So, it’s to no surprise that his springy egg noodles are not the run-of-the-mill kind – the stall uses jook sing noodles, otherwise known as bamboo noodles, imported straight from Hong Kong. Nestled on a bed of wanton mee drenched in soy sauce, the lightly-charred char siew is charcoal-roasted to caramelised perfection.
I’m ready to get transported back to Hong Kong guys.
4. Delhi Lahori

Renowned for their crispy yet fluffy charcoal-baked naans, Delhi Lahori at Tekka Centre serves authentic Indian-Pakistani cuisine. The naans come in a variety of tantalising flavours but you should try to catch customer favourites like Butter Naan or Garlic Naan. If you prefer something heartier, the richly-spiced Butter Chicken Naan Set is the way to go. How ‘bout a quick snack? The grilled-to-order Seekh Kebab is perfect then.
According to Michelin, “The experienced tandoor master knows his clay oven inside out.” And you have to agree.
5. Fico

Here’s something fancier. Fico at East Coast Park is situated in an idyllic white house inspired by a masseria in Puglia. From its wispy decor to the picturesque coastal views, this is the ideal spot for your next date.
Bringing a breath of fresh air from his motherland to our sunny shores, the Italian restaurant is owned by a Pugliese chef who formerly opened Michelin-Starred Braci! Expect moreish focaccina and hand stretched linguine with a homely touch.
Word on the street is that they are fully booked for months, so chope early.
6. Han Kee

I initially wanted to cover Han Kee at Amoy Street Food Centre but fate had other plans for me… Is this a sign to try them for once? Included in our Good Food Bad Service series, the hawker stall is rarely seen without a snaking queue. They are famous for their clean-tasting fish soup brimming with the essence of mackerel. Apparently, the portions are really generous too, and those thick slices of batang can’t be missed.
Tip: Opt to enjoy the broth with porridge or bee hoon, instead of your basic bowl of rice.
7. Jason Penang Cuisine
Bro, I am lost for words. Before setting up Jason Penang Cuisine at ABC Brickworks Market & Food Centre, the owner (Jason, duh) used to be a chef for the British High Commissioner. High profile wor. He then decided to showcase his Penang culinary heritage with his wife, Linda. Garnished with fresh mint leaves, the star of his humble stall would definitely be the tangy Penang Assam Laksa cooked in yellowtail broth.
For the full Penangese experience, indulge in wok-kissed Penang Hokkien Mee or Fried Kway Teow.
8. Margaret Drive Sin Kee Chicken Rice

A new era has dawned for Margaret Drive Sin Kee Chicken Rice at Holland Drive. There are multiple stalls under the same name, but this is the real deal. Now helmed by a son of the late Mr Leong who established the original Sin Kee Chicken Rice at Margaret Drive, the stall’s signature chicken rice uses a recipe similar to the original. Best paired with Canto-style ginger sauce, their tender steamed chicken has a gelatinous layer that is infused with aromatic chicken stock.
Coming from someone who prefers roasted over steamed chicken, I guess I need to try the latter now.
9. MP Thai (Vision Exchange)

Fellow Westies, is this Jurong’s best kept secret? MP Thai (Vision Exchange) at Jurong East also has outlets at Battery Road and Shenton House too. This location is the only one that’s awarded Michelin Bib Gourmand though.
With a Thai owner and Thai chefs holding the sabai sabai vision together, their Isan-style fare is as authentic as can be. Among the vibrant range of classic Thai dishes, the Tom Yum Soup Hotpot and Basil Pork Fried Rice with Egg are must-trys.
I won’t dwell much, but just prepare to be wowed by robust flavours with a fiery kick.
10. Song Fish Soup

Another fish soup spot?! Song Fish Soup at Clementi 448 Market & Food Centre is said to be under-appreciated if you go by its low-rated Google Reviews. Unlike the aforementioned Han Kee, their menu also includes my favourite Fried Fish, the usual Sliced Fish, and even Fish Maw.
You know the drill – with bee hoon or without? Take your pick. Seafood aficionados unite: aside from fish head, lala and shrimps are also available.
BRB, I’m making my way down to try their Yuan Yang Bee Hoon. Bye.
11. Zhup Zhup

Formerly known as One Prawn & Co., Zhup Zhup at Macpherson is constantly teeming with activity. Touted as a concept “where tradition meets innovation”, their Supreme Prawn Noodles and Claypot Hokkien Mee are simply mouthwatering to look at!
While the hae mee comes with succulent prawns, delicate shabu shabu and melt-in-your-mouth pork ribs, the hokkien mee is topped with crunchy pork lard and their proprietary GAOGAO broth.
Yums la.
