Michael Keaton WILL Join Spider-Man: Homecoming Cast

It looks as though the original big screen Batman will be meeting the all-new Spider-Man after all.

Weeks after initial negotiations apparently fell through, it seems Marvel and Sony have reached an agreement with Michael Keaton to cast the actor in a key role in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming.’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-nominated ‘Birdman’ actor is in “final negotiations” to play the villain in the superhero reboot - although it remains unconfirmed just who this villain is.

However, it may be worth noting that not long before this story broke, JoBlo claimed to have insider knowledge that, as rumoured, the central villain of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ will indeed be The Vulture.

Furthermore, JoBlo report the Vulture will be aided in his misdeeds by another, lesser-known Spidey adversary The Tinkerer, a technological wizard who will allegedly help construct the Vulture’s flight suit using salvaged Chitauri tech (that’s the aliens from ‘Avengers Assemble,’ for those who came in late).

Keaton will join Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, who made his debut in this year’s ‘Captain America: Civil War’ alongside Marisa Tomei’s Aunt May and Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark/Iron Man - both of who will also be in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming.’

On the younger end of the cast, Holland’s co-stars include Zendaya, Tony Revolori and Laura Harrier, and while no plot details have been revealed just yet it is believed the film will largely be set in Peter Parker’s high school.

Directed by Jon Watts (’Cop Car’), ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ begins production next month, and is due in UK cinemas on 28 July 2017.
