Michael Keaton is in discussions to play the villain to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.

Variety have reported that the Oscar-nominated actor has held early discussions about joining the Marvel and Sony co-production, which will mark the origin story of Holland’s younger incarnation of the iconic character.

The name of Keaton’s potential villain hasn’t been revealed, but the fact that he’s being considered is a huge departure from the actor’s previous superhero role, which was as Batman in Tim Burton’s 1989 adaptation and its 1992 follow-up, ’Batman Returns’.

If Michael Keaton does sign on for ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ then he will be joining 19-year-old Holland, Marisa Tomei and Zendaya, with the latter duo playing Aunt May and a mystery role, respectively.

At the moment we don’t know that much about ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, other than the fact that it will revolve Peter Parker in his high school days. It has been written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein and will be directed by Jon Watts.
