Michael J. Fox Recovering After Undergoing Spinal Surgery

The 56-year-old actor is 'feeling great' following his procedure, which was unrelated to his Parkinson’s.

Michael J. Fox is recovering after recently undergoing surgery.

"Michael J. Fox recently underwent spinal surgery unrelated to his Parkinson’s," a rep for the 56-year-old Back to the Future star told ET in a statement on Saturday. "He is recovering, feeling great, and looking forward to getting back on the golf course this summer." People was first to report the news.

Earlier this month, Fox was forced to cancel his appearances scheduled for April 26 to 29 at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo in Canada. The expo shared the news of his cancellation via Twitter, writing, "Michael J. Fox is not able to be with us at #CalgaryExpo. We received the following message from his publicist to share with you all – 'Due to unforeseen circumstances in his schedule Michael J. Fox is not available to attend.'"

Meanwhile, 2018 marks 20 years since Fox publicly revealed his Parkinson's diagnosis. ET caught up with the actor last November at his annual event, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson's," where he weighed in on the moment he shared his diagnosis with the public.

"[My family] lived with it for a long time, so by the time I told the public about it, I had accepted it," he told ET.
