24 Jul – Multi-Grammy award winner Michael Bolton is looking for the next big star in Asia in the first season of the reality singing competition show, "Asian Dream".
Partnering with Subaru Asia, the singer is one of the creators of the new show, on which he also serves as a resident judge. Six talented musicians from across Asia will compete to perform with the legendary singer in the Asian Dream tour next year and to become a Subaru Ambassador.
Here's when fans can begin watching "Asian Dream" on TV:
Date: 6 August 2020 (Thursday)
Time: 7.25pm (6.25pm JKT/BKK)
Competing over the course of 7 episodes are contestants Tyen Rasif (Singapore), Poova Sri Rama (Malaysia), Sasha Ka (Thailand), Linh Tran (Vietnam), Karl Zarate (Philippines), and Becky Yeung (Hong Kong).
To understand what is needed on the journey to become a professional singer and to hone their skills as performers, the contestants are mentored by the guests in the show and compete head-to-head in a series of challenges.
Guests include American fashion photographer Yu Tsai, Singaporean actress Tan Kheng Hua, and Thai singer-actress Jannine Weigel. Meanwhile, singing sensation Morrisette Amon will be co-hosting the show.
"I am thrilled to be partnering with Subaru Asia to find some of the best and brightest stars in the region and helping them rise to their full potential. Although I was signed at the age of 16, it took me eighteen years to breakthrough, so I feel I can relate to these young artists' aspirations," said Bolton in a press statement.
"It takes more than just a great voice or an x-factor to make it in the music business; it also takes commitment and drive, values which we share with my friend and collaborator Glenn Tan."
Mr Glenn Tan, Deputy Chairman and Managing Director, Tan Chong International Limited, who also appears on the show as a guest judge, stated, "We are proud to provide a unique platform and opportunity for aspiring singers to pursue their dreams. They are mentored individually by industry veterans, hone their skills through a series of challenges and improve their performance. Through this experience, as they grow as performers, I hope Asian Dream will serve as a launchpad for their future success."
Aside from airing on AXN, "Asian Dream" will also be available online at http://www.subaru.asia/asiandream
