Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have just left Dublin, Ireland, ending their first overseas royal tour together.
While they were abroad, Meghan wore four completely different outfits totaling $40,189.65. A royal budget for a new duchess!
As a member of the family, Meghan can no longer accept freebies, though she can now buy clothing with the money that Prince Charles gives Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Harry from his $28 million Duchy of Cornwall income. She and Harry used to have to buy everything on their own, so that's an improvement.
Here, a breakdown of the cost of each outfit, with the help of Meghan's Mirror's thorough credits of each and every outfit Meghan wore out.
Outfit #1: Green Givenchy Matching Separates
When she arrived in Dublin, she exited the plane in a matching forest green Givenchy sweater and skirt set. The sweater was bespoke, so the price hasn't been reported. But the skirt is available for $1,590. She carried a Strathberry midi tote ($612.75), wore Paul Andrew heels ($625 but sold out in tan) and Vanessa Tugendhaft Precious earrings ($875.21).
Total cost: $3,702.96+
Outfit #2: Black Belted Emilia Wickstead Dress
At the British embassy's summer party that night, she wore a bespoke black Emilia Wickstead dress (estimated to be worth £2,000, or $2640.84, by Express). It was a surprise choice, given the controversy that flared up after the designer reportedly criticized Meghan's Givenchy wedding dress and suggested it was similar to her own bridal dress design. She later released a statement, asserting she did not think the dress was a copy of her own designs and that she thought Meghan looked beautiful.
Total cost: $8,855.84
Outfit #3: Rouland Mouret Shift Dress
This morning, Meghan met Ireland's President in a taupe Roland Mouret dress (which Daily Mail estimates to be worth £1,500, or $1,980.55) with Birks Snowflake Snowstorm earrings ($12,000), Paul Andrew heels (a black version of the tan ones she wore the day before, $625 and also sold out) and a Fendi Peekaboo Essentials bag ($6,500). Harry wore a navy suit.
Total cost: $21,105.55
Outfit #4: Givenchy Pants Suit
She switched later into that bespoke Givenchy suit set (estimated to be worth £2,500, or, $3,301.40 by Daily Mail), a Lavender Hill boat t-shirt (a refreshing £34.00 ($44.90)), a Givenchy belt ($374), a Givenchy bag ($2,450), and Sarah Flint heels ($355). Harry changed into a lighter suit.
Total cost: $6,525.30
And the grand total, once again: $40,189.65. Those are some fancy (and expensive!) clothes.
