Meghan McCain Lashes Out at ‘Cruel’ Coverage of ‘The View’ Drama: ‘We All F– Up on the Show’

During a chat with Andy Cohen on Wednesday’s “Watch What Happens Live,” Meghan McCain criticized media coverage of inter-host drama on “The View,” and called Whoopi Goldberg her “anchor” at the show.

“It’s really cruel,” she said of the way she sees the media handling her “very small fight” with former co-host Abby Huntsman, who stepped down from the show a few weeks ago. McCain insisted the two are very good friends to this day and that she found it “bizarre” to see a single fight, which she admitted did happen, blown up publicly and “weaponized” by the media.

McCain also downplayed the fight with Huntsman, a fellow conservative, and the reports that she was going to leave the show before Huntsman did. McCain assured Cohen if she had plans to leave the ABC show, she wouldn’t be cryptic about it, so Cohen moved on to the next headline-making fight she had on the show: The time Goldberg said to her in December, “Girl, please stop talking.”

“It was rough and I will say that she was having a bad day and we talked about it that night and the next day. It’s live TV and it’s really intense, stressful times for everyone. I adore her. She apologized off-air. She apologized on-air. We all f–k up on the show. It’s live. It’s everyday. I forgive her and I love her,” McCain explained.

“If she leaves, I go. Like, Whoopi is the anchor of the show and my life there and she always picks us up if we’re down,” she added.
