It’s been less than a year since Meghan Markle married into the Royal Family and she’s hit the ground running in her role.

The Duchess of Sussex has been quick to learn the ropes and announced her first solo project just five months after her wedding to Prince Harry.

She helped the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen, whose lives were affected by the Grenfell Tower fire, to compile a charity cookbook to help with funding.

She also navigated her first royal tour of the South Pacific in October, while newly pregnant and has given passionate speeches about education, female empowerment and mental health.

Meghan also became patron of four organisations at the beginning of the year – The National Theatre, The Association of Commonwealth Universities, Smart Works (which helps unemployed women) and animal welfare charity Mayhew.

PR guru Nick Ede says that while Meghan has been a positive force for the Royal Family, there’s still some work to do.

He told Yahoo UK‘s The Royal Box: “She’s not a people’s princess yet and I think that will be interesting to see her change into that.

“What she did with Grenfell was great and that, I think from a popularity point of view, was really strong, but again I still think she has a bit of work to do.”

Body language expert Judi James adds: “I think we’ve seen the tip of the iceberg, I think she’s fiercely intelligent.

“I think we’ll see her campaigning, I think she’ll get our respect and awe, I think she’s that good.”
