It was revealed yesterday that Meghan Markle had visited a school to mark International Women’s Day.

Now, the Duchess of Sussex, 38, has released a behind-the-scenes video of her trip to the Robert Clack Upper School in Dagenham on Friday.

In an Instagram post shared this morning the royal mum, who wore a cream boucle jacket with black tailored trousers and a pair of heels, gave an inside look at what is believed to be her final solo royal engagement - which saw her cheered on by delighted pupils who gave her a standing ovation.

She was also seen joining children in lessons, chatting to teachers and giving a speech during an assembly.

The caption of the clip, on the @SussexRoyal account, read: “Happy International Women’s Day!

“Here, a glimpse of The Duchess’ visit to the Robert Clack School to hear from the students on what IWD means to them, and how we can all uplift one another.

”Tag an inspiring woman in your life and tell us what #IWD2020 means to you.

”More behind the scenes moments coming soon...”

A third shared: “Such a people’s person. It all comes so naturally.”

It comes just hours after a black and white image of Meghan greeting pupils was shared to the same Instagram account she shares with Prince Harry, 35.

The caption read: “A sneak peek of The Duchess of Sussex’s visit in honour of International Women’s Day to the Robert Clack school in Dagenham.”

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the duchess chose the area because of its connection to the Ford plant, where women went on strike for equal pay in 1968 - and she was joined in the assembly by one of them, Geraldine Dear.

In a speech, Meghan said: “When we thought about what I wanted to do for International Women’s Day this year, for me it was incredibly important to be with the women of our future.

“And that is all of the young women here, as well as the young men who play a very large part in this.

“Specifically coming to your school made a lot of sense for me because of this social justice and the impact that it’s rooted in.”

Last night, the duke and duchess received a standing ovation at the Mountbatten Festival of Music.
