It’s been reported that Prince William and Prince Harry are planning to “split” Kensington Palace into two separate courts for their growing families.

The change is expected to happen after Harry and Meghan’s baby is born in spring 2018. The couples each have increasingly different responsibilities and this is said to be the reason behind the formal division of the royal household.

“In reality, it is a practical streamlining of communication and efficiency and very importantly, they do need to carve their roles separately,” etiquette expert Jo Bryant tells Yahoo UK’s ‘The Royal Box in the video above.

She adds: “William is going to be king and so he needs to start looking forward, learning from his own father, meanwhile Harry and Meghan need to carve their own role aside from that, because he’s never going to make it to the throne.”

William and Harry’s late mother Princess Diana famously carved out her own role within the Royal Family, even after she separated from Prince Charles in 1992.
