'Meghan Markle is now in a more powerful position than she's ever been'

A royal historian says the Duchess of Sussex is “in a more powerful position than she’s yet been, since she joined the Royal Family.”

Speaking on Yahoo UK’s ‘The Royal Box,’ Anna Whitelock adds: “She’s married to Harry, he clearly dotes on her and adores her.

“She clearly has a great deal of influence over him.”

Meghan and Harry celebrate their first wedding anniversary on May 19 and it has been an incredibly busy year for the couple.

In that time, the former actress, 37, has located to a new country and moved from Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, while adjusting to her new life as a royal.

Meghan has been quick to learn the ropes and has carried out hundreds of engagements in that time, including around 76 alone on her first major overseas tour in Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand - all while newly pregnant.

She was an active humanitarian while juggling her acting career but Meghan now has an even bigger and global platform, which she can use to highlight the causes she is passionate about.

Her first patronages were announced at the beginning of the year and her main focuses include gender equality, education for girls, animal welfare, the arts and theatre and the Commonwealth.

Meghan has also reportedly been helping husband Harry, 34, with his speeches and public speaking.

A behind-the-scenes photo on the Australia tour showed Harry making final preparations before his speech at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney.

Harry also gave a powerful speech at WE Day without any notes to hand - much like his wife. His newfound confidence is said to be the result of coaching from Meghan.

Whitelock says Meghan is “incredibly powerful” and that the Royal Family should take notice of her influence, if they don’t already.

The duchess may have only just become a mother to son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor but she is reportedly keen to return to royal duties soon.
