Meghan Markle is making a return to the small screen – but this time, she won’t be acting: the Duchess is appearing in a documentary about the Queen.

‘Queen of the World’ is a new documentary series by ITV, based on the Her Majesty’s current role as a global figure.

According to the network, it will focus heavily on her work with the Commonwealth and “the baton she is passing to the younger members of the Royal Family” as they continue to build it.

The documentary – filmed over a year – is said to have “privileged access” to The Queen, her family, her staff and her residences.

Viewers will also be treated to behind-the-scenes moments with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

In addition, Duchess Meghan will be giving a sit-down interview to talk about her new grandmother-in-law and the Commonwealth.

This is her first major televised interview after her official engagement interview with Prince Harry in November 2017, and we can’t wait to hear her in action.

Nicolas Kent, Creative Director for Oxford Films and Executive Producer for ‘Queen of the World’, said: “The Queen is the most well-travelled monarch in history and it’s been fascinating to see how she has passed on her experience to the younger generations of the royal family.

“With the Duke and Duchess of Sussex about to embark on their first Commonwealth Tour to Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific exactly sixty-five years after the Queen’s first Commonwealth Tour, this series could not be more timely.”

On her wedding day, the Duchess of Sussex wore a veil embroidered with the flora of all 53 countries of the Commonwealth.

The documentary is due to begin airing in September. Who’s excited?!
