On the penultimate day of Wimbledon last weekend, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton delighted royal fans when they arrived at the women’s singles final together.

Their outing - during which they were spotted smiling in the royal box as they watched the Duchess of Sussex’s friend Serena Williams play the eventual winner Simona Halep - has lead insiders to suggest their friendship is blossoming.

A royal expert has revealed how they could work together more as “a team” in the future.

“Coming from different backgrounds, I think, they have more the makings of a team than people imagined,” biographer Robert Lacey told People.

The author explained that the similarities between Meghan, 37, and Kate’s otherwise unique situation could help bind them together.

“They have a common interest as partners to these two men who are so crucial to the monarchy, along with their children,” he added.

What’s more, he believes that the Duchesses’ growing profiles alongside husbands Prince William, 37, and Prince Harry, 34, has also been a positive.

“You’re seeing more confidence from Meghan recently but also from Kate," the insider explained.

Lacey’s comments come as it was revealed Kate, 37, had consoled Meghan after her friend Serena lost the high-profile match.

"Kate put her hand out and rubbed Meghan's back to console her," an eyewitness told People.

Another royal source also revealed to the publication: “There is a sense of [Meghan and Kate’s] relationship strengthening.

“[They] were genuine and sweet together.”

It is believed the arrival of baby Archie has allowed the women to bond over motherhood.

The revelations follow rumours of a royal rift which have dogged the Cambridges and Sussexes since last year’s royal wedding.

Earlier this year, Meghan and Harry moved from Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor reportedly to have space from Kate and William.

Last month, the ‘Fab Four’ officially split their joint Royal Foundation charity.

Royal commentator Duncan Larcombe suggested to The Sun’s Fabulous it was because Harry and Meghan didn’t want to be “controlled” by William, despite intending to back the same causes.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently announced they will be calling their new foundation Sussex Royal.
