Meghan and Harry’s Constant PDA Is Affecting Kate and Will, According to a Body Language Expert

From Cosmopolitan

In the months since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got married, Prince William and Kate Middleton have seemed a lot more comfortable around each other. It's such a noticeable difference that royal experts actually think Meghan and Harry's affinity for PDA has rubbed off on the older couple.

This past weekend, Kate and Will attended a service for Remembrance Day, and Will totally deviated from his usual behavior to put his hand on Kate's back.

"It's unusual to see William taking the lead in terms of public touch rituals with Kate but on Remembrance Sunday he performed this back-touch ritual, even splaying his thumb out to signal a rather protective form of affection," body language expert Judi James told the Daily Mail.

The couple seems altogether less formal than they did even a few months ago. James said it seems like they are less obsessed with the rules they used to follow.

Just last month, the two were at an event together and Kate reached across a very wide space to touch Will on the leg, which according to James is a "very strong signal of attraction."

And before that, they broke their usual protocol at Princess Eugenie's wedding with not only a thigh-touch moment...

But a back-touch moment, too.

James said the back-touching is straight out of Meghan and Harry's playbook, and the couple uses that gesture as a way to guide, protect, and reassure each other during public outings. This new affection could be a result of Kate's third pregnancy, but mostly it's a Meghan thing.

"Now that Meghan has joined The Firm, her own determinedly tactile behavior with Harry does seem to have had a profound 'echo' effect on William and Kate's rituals," she added.

Normally, the younger sibling takes cues from the older one, James said, but in this case it looks like Will is following Harry's lead.

Either way, the internet seems to be very here for any and all royal PDA. Keep it coming, people! You're too damn cute.
