MBC will have its 2017 Entertainment Awards

25 Nov – South Korean TV network, MBC is going to hold this year's 2017 MBC Entertainment Awards after all.

The station, which previously faced a union strike, has reportedly confirmed the news recently saying that it has scheduled for the aforementioned award ceremony to be held on 29 December.

This is the second award show that has been confirmed, following the 2017 MBC Gayo Daejaejeon. No news as to whether the 2017 MBC Drama Awards will be held as well.

On the other hand, KBS, who is still facing the strike, shared that KBS Drama Awards will be held as usual. However, they are still uncertain whether KBS Entertainment Awards and KBS Song Festival will be held this year.

Back in September, members of the National Union of Mediaworkers at KBS and MBC went on a simultaneous strike, calling for the removal of the networks' management (MBC's Kim Jang-kyom and KBS' Ko Dae-young), and the restoration of independent fair reporting.

MBC's union workers ended the strike first back on 14 November, following Kim Jang-kyom's removal.
