MB&F’s New Green M.A.D.1 Watch Is Here, and It’s up for Raffle
MB&F has built a reputation building some of the most innovative and daring timekeeping devices on the market since the brand’s inception in 2005. However, thanks to its horological prowess, the watchmaker’s creations come in extremely limited quantities and with hefty price tags. The brand’s founder Maximilian Büsser has been keenly aware of this exclusivity since the brand’s early days with the intention of making his wares more accessible to a wider population without compromising the one-of-a-kind DNA of the brand. In 2021, he brought this vision to life with the launch of the first M.A.D. Editions watch, and today we get the third edition: the M.A.D.1 Green.
The M.A.D.1 collection has always been conceived with the same thought, care and creativity as MB&F’s Horological and Legacy Machines. However, the attainable price point has necessitated some modifications from the brand’s typical offerings. One of the key differences is a modified movement as opposed to one developed in house. For the M.A.D.1, MB&F chose the Miyota 821A for its unidirectional winding system, which is essential for easy and high-speed rotation of the winding rotor, a key element of the collection’s design.

To retain the instantly recognizable look and feel of the MB&F brand while utilizing this movement, the watchmaker got creative with the case structure and time display. The movement is encased upside-down, allowing MB&F to place the specially developed triple-blade, titanium and tungsten rotor on the dial side of the watch (a feature typical of several MB&F timepieces). Then, the revolving hours and minutes were positioned on aluminum cylinders visible on the case band as another nod to the lateral displays seen on many MB&F Machines.
The latest edition of the M.A.D.1 features a new green color scheme and is available in a limited run of 1,500 pieces via a raffle on the MB&F website, a practice that was introduced with the M.A.D.1 Red in 2022. Registration for the raffle is open today and will run for two weeks. The results of the raffle will be announced in early October and the watch will be delivered sometime between October 2023 and April 2024.
