The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik shared a story of “unity and understanding” on Instagram about how her sons witnessed fellow subway riders removing the word “Nazi” from a New York subway seat.

The actress, who most recently played Amy Fowler on The Big Bang Theory and previously starred on Blossom, shared a post on Instagram on Tuesday about her subway experience.

Bialik, who was visiting New York with her family over the weekend for Fortnite World Cup, went on to describe how her 10 and 13-year-old sons saw the word “Nazi” written on a subway seat.

“My boys noticed it. But so did the other passengers. They took out some hand sanitizer and began removing the marking,” her post reads. “THIS is America. It was a very powerful moment of unity and understanding, and I'm grateful that my boys got to witness it in action.”

People were quick to comment on the Instagram post, with many praising Bialik for her parenting skills and for raising “wonderful” sons.

“Everyone can do their part to eradicate hatred. Thank you to your boys for doing theirs!” one person commented.

Another wrote “You are an Awesome person!!! And what Wonderful boys you have...Great jobs raising your kids.”

One commenter applauded the boys’ response, writing, “You are a wonderful example for your boys (obviously!) that they responded the way they did. Thank you to you and your boys for kind hearts.”

Her post also gave people a platform to discuss their own encounters and experiences with hateful symbols and language in public.

“I had to call the cops once in my old building in France because I woke up one morning to go to uni and found swastikas all over the walls in the lobby,” one person wrote.

Another commented, “The city that I live in has a local Nazi group that owns a tattoo shop & openly tattoos people with certain symbols. I belong to a group that is constantly trying to get them shut down + removing their hate posters and stickers. It’s infuriating. It makes me happy though to hear of people coming together to take action.”

This isn’t the first time Bialik has shared candid stories about parenting. Just this month, she got candid in a YouTube video in which she answered questions about she’s raising her vegan children — and shut down criticism from people who think they aren’t getting enough protein.
