Matt LeBlanc Answers Rachel or Monica?
Matt LeBlanc recently stopped by The Late Late Show With James Corden, where Lady Gaga asked him the ultimate Friends question: "Who would you rather: Monica or Rachel?"
It’s a tough one. Perhaps the toughest, even. As we all know, Joey had a longstanding relationship with Rachel, with whom he was even in love.
And he and Monica used to have a bit of a thing for each other. Remember when they first met, and she thought he was hot and invited him in for some lemonade, and he figured that was code for "take off all your clothes?" Or when it turned out that when she and Chandler had sex for the first time in that hotel room in London, she was actually looking for Joey?
With all that history, how do you even choose?? Matt thought about it for a moment, and then finally made a decision. In a stunning upset, he chose Phoebe!
"I’d have me some Phoebe. She’s very bendy," he said.
That makes sense, even if it’s a little skeezy (Matt, stop doing that please). Given that Rachel and Ross were always meant to end up together, and Chandler and Monica were the most amazing couple ever, lots of fans expected Joey and Phoebe to shack up eventually as well. After all, remember that time he dated Ursula, and she wanted to ghost him, so Phoebe pretended to be her twin sister to break it to him gently, and they had that hot kiss?
Apparently, Lisa Kudrow was into the idea of them being together as well. In an interview with People magazine last year, Matt said, "Towards the end [Kudrow and I] actually pitched the idea that Joey and Phoebe had been having casual sex the entire time. We’d go back and shoot all the historical scenes and just before a moment that everyone recognizes, there’s Joey and Phoebe coming out of a broom closet together. But they were like, ‘Nah.’"
