Mat Yeung defends Edmond Leung over photo with Alan Tam

24 Jul – Mat Yeung recently echoed Edmond Leung's statement about being respectful towards his seniors when asked about the issues of artistes socialising or taking photos with "problematic" celebrities.

As reported on Mingpao, earlier this week Edmond sparked the ire of Hong Kong protesters when he was spotted in a photo with Alan Tam during one of their football games.

It is noted that Alan has already been the source of anger for many of the Hong Kong independence supporters for his vocal support of the police despite previous accusations of police brutality, and Edmond's association with the singer seemed to frustrate his fans further.

Edmond had since addressed the issue, saying that he has clear conscience and will continue to be respectful to a predecessor.

When asked about his thoughts on the issue, Mat, who was previously slammed for taking a photo with senior police officials last year, stated that some photos could arouse either praise or opposition and that one just has to get used to it being a part of showbiz.

"Respect for seniors is a must. I have no issue taking photos with seniors who have opposing political views with me. When it comes to negative comments, I now have an "automatic filtering" system. I will just not look at them," he said.
