Mat Yeung angered over face mask hoax against his restaurant

3 Feb – Mat Yeung recently expressed his anger and frustration over the latest lies thrown against him and his restaurant STEW.

As reported on Mingpao, the issue sparked last week, when irresponsible netizens spread false rumours that STEW would be distributing 100,000 boxes of medical-grade face masks to the public for free, and that one has to shout "I support the police!" in order to receive it.

The false rumour was also shared by fellow artistes Tommy Yuen, who posted it on social media, worsening the situation further and prompted Mat to clarify the situation - saying that the restaurant only stocked enough face masks for its employees' use for half a month.

On 31 January, the actor took to social media to slam those who spread the news for such an irresponsible act, writing, "It's okay if you don't want to deal with the virus in a positive manner. Just don't instigate others to do bad things! Are you that bored, or in need of attention? Everyone here is at risk of being infected, it's not something to be joked about."
