Marvel star Tom Hiddleston has revealed when the Loki spin-off series for Disney+ will begin filming.

In a wide-ranging interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor discussed making his Broadway debut in Harold Pinter's classic play Betrayal, in which he stars alongside Daredevil's Charlie Cox.

But Hiddleston went on to reveal that the Loki TV show will start filming at the beginning of next year.

"Loki will start at the top of next year. He’s such a classical character. [Thor and Loki], they’re from Norse myths – they have a kind of gravitas to them," he said.

Comparing his Marvel character to the one he'll soon be portraying on stage, he added: "Robert in Betrayal is much more earthbound. They’re both very complex, but Robert is a publisher and a husband and a father. Loki is the god of mischief."

"Two quite different figures," he laughed.

The official synopsis for Loki suggests that the God of Mischief will travel through time to deliberately influence key moments in human history.

How exactly he gains this power remains to be seen, but it appears he'll also be using the Tesseract to travel through space.

Following Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki will be the second Marvel TV show to hit Disney+ when it debuts in spring 2021.
