Marvel Fans Noticed a Clue at the End of 'Avengers: Endgame' That Could Point to the Future of the MCU

From Esquire

By the end of watching three hours of hot CGI people hit each other, my eyes were too tired to notice much of anything, let alone a background person in one of the final scenes of Avengers: Endgame. But, thankfully, a Marvel fan on Reddit noticed someone in the background of Peter Parker's school that we've seen before. Spoilers ahead.

When Peter is walking back into his high school after the Avengers undo the snap, there's an administrator greeting kids in the background that fans think look a lot like Ben Mendelsohn, who played the Skrull shapeshifter Talos in Captain Marvel.

It's hard to tell from the low quality videos that fans have found, but you can look at it for yourself here.

As the Redditor notes, Mendelsohn's presence back in the MCU could be a clue of Secret Invasion plots in future MCU movies. As comics readers know, the Secret Invasion plot involved the Skrulls infiltrating Earth and replacing a number of the heroes and prominent world leaders.

Some Redditors point out in this thread that Captain Marvel revealed the Skrulls to be more like a band of refugees rather than the evil shape-shifting aliens they were in the comics. But, it's possible that things have changed in the last 25 years since we saw the Skrulls in Captain Marvel. It's also possible that there are other Skrulls less friendly than Talos' family and he's returned to keep an eye on Earth.

This possible appearance by Mendelsohn is one of few clues that Marvel fans have that could point to what comes next in the MCU. At this point it's unclear what heroes will anchor the next phase of the MCU-although we do know that Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, and the Guardians are likely to be involved somehow.
