Martin Spies on how he knew Rachelle Ann Go is the one
25 Sep - It was love at first sight for American businessman Martin Spies, who recently popped the question to Filipina musical star, Rachelle Ann Go.
In the engagement video that was recently shared by the "Miss Saigon" star, Spies shared that he was first introduced to Go by their mutual friend during a church service earlier this year.
"When I first saw her, I thought she was really beautiful. I never really [looked her up on Google] or anything like that. I just thought she's great at what she does. I didn't really know much about it yet," he admitted.
However, it was Go's love for God and for her family that made him realise that she is the woman he wants to marry.
"Seeing her heart, seeing how she loves God, seeing the things that are important to her. She loves family. So, she has a kind heart. For me, what's important is how we're gonna glorify God as a couple [...] and I saw all of that in her. Once I saw that, I knew that I was gonna go for her. I didn't need to see anything else. So, I just started pursuing her, getting to her family, visiting her," he said.
The video also showed how Spies proposed to Go, who was at first clueless about his intention when they went for a picnic at the beach.
"What are you doing?" Go asked, when Spies suddenly knelt down in front of her and laughed as he took out the ring box.
"Will you marry me, babe?" he asked to a surprised Go, who responded, "Yes!" and jokingly added, "When?" as they hugged each other.
Go admitted in an interview that she was hoping for a proposal as they have always talked about spending their lives together, but didn't expect that Spies would do it at the beach.
"I feel so blessed," she added.
