Martin Scorsese Made A Superhero Movie Cameo

It’s official - Martin Scorsese is in a superhero movie.

He’s one of the biggest directors in cinema history. Martin Scorsese is responsible for the likes of ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Raging Bull’ and ‘Goodfellas’. But it looks as though the filmmaking gene hasn’t passed on to his daughter… even if he did try to help her out with a cameo in her directorial debut, ‘Campus Code’.

That’s right, the legendary Martin Scorsese appeared in a micro-budget superhero film. And it’s gloriously bad.

The cringe-inducing scene appears in the amazingly low-budget trailer:

Here, you’ll find Martin Scorsese doing his best impression of a doctor, with a line delivered so badly, it’s just embarrassing. “Everything checks out alright,” he says after looking over the super-powered lead. Impossible? “But everything checks out alright.”

Cue cheesy smile.

The only thing that could make this any worse is if he actually winked at the camera… and with a lingering shot on Scorsese going on a bit too long, he really might as well have.

‘Campus Code’ is directed by Martin Scorsese’s daughter, Cathy Scorsese.

The 2015 micro-budget flick inexplicably stars a bunch of no-name actors alongside Ray Liotta - one of the perks of having Martin Scorsese as your dad, I suppose. But while the film was only recently released here in the UK, it hasn’t exactly gone down well.

If you head over to Rotten Tomatoes, you won’t find any critic or audience reviews… and a quick look at Metacritic also yields no results. But a cursory glance at reddit will give you an idea of what some people thought of the movie. And it’s not pretty.

“Wow… you’d think daddy would step in and help out a little bit,” said one user. “At least just tell her to stop…”

The official synopsis is as follows:

“The college experience - studying, dating, partying… but when one of their classmates disintegrates right before their eyes, Ari, Becca, Izzy, Greta and Arun must battle security, the Griefers and each other to uncover the incredible truth about themselves and this other-worldly campus before they are all eliminated.”

Still, at least it brought us this glorious Martin Scorsese cameo.
