Marni and Carhartt WIP reveal pieces from their first collaboration collection

First teased in December 2022, Italian luxury fashion label Marni and American heritage workwear label Carhartt WIP finally revealed all items from their highly anticipated first collaboration collection.

The brands also aren’t amateurs in the collaboration game. The former released two capsule collections with Uniqlo in 2022 while the latter partnered with various fashion brands, such as sportswear giant New Balance and footwear expert Suicoke, for specific drops throughout the year.

For their inaugural capsule line, signature design codes of both brands integrate seamlessly as Marni’s striking prints and colour-blocking techniques enriched Carhartt WIP’s pragmatic constructed fashion.

Marni’s Francesco Risso adorned Carhartt WIP’s mainstay uniform pieces like the classic Active Jacket and work pants with recurring four-petaled floral motifs and bold colour-block combinations. The result is a funky and psychedelic range that delivers fun and function.

Highlights from the collection include the essential Active Jacket and work pants in prominent green-on-white and yellow-on-black colourways alongside the floral print. Trousers in this capsule also focus on a flared-leg design, which is a nod to 70s funk and soul.

You can also complete your look with matching bucket hats, printed canvas tote bags, and co-branded slip-on shoes. Those shy with prints can opt for the understated neutral shade contrast-panelled corduroy overshirts and exaggerated logo knit.

A retro-led campaign featuring iconic American funk musician Bootsy Collins





 

The brands tapped into music veteran Bootsy Collins and his immediate family for their visual campaign lensed by photographer Lengua. The funk artist – formerly of Parliament-Funkadelic – grooves with wife Patti, grandson Vincent, and musician Babyxsosa in his Cincinnati home while wearing clothes from the playful collection.

This collection also marks the beginning of Marni Jam, a global multidisciplinary creative program that kicks off with an in-store jam session at the upcoming Milan Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2023.

The Marni x Carhartt WIP capsule collection launches on 14 January 2023 at selected Carhartt WIP flagships (including Hong Kong and Taipei in Asia), in Marni’s boutiques and website Marni.com, and at select fashion multi-label stockists around the world. It will arrive in Japan on 25 January.
