Mark Wahlberg has lined up his next project over at Netflix, which will see him portray a working class version of James Bond.

This spy movie will be called Our Man In New Jersey, with Deadline reporting that the actor is currently in early negotiations with the streaming service to both star and produce the film.

Deadline were the ones who described Wahlberg’s character as a “blue-collar 007 James Bond-type,” while also revealing that Stephen Levinson came up with the idea, which will be expanded into a script by Safe House screenwriter David Guggenheim.

Wahlberg and Levinson previously collaborated with Netflix on Spenser Confidential, which was released back at the start of March and proved to a huge success.

Netflix recently revealed that the action comedy was watched in 85 million households during its first six weeks, making it the second most watched film in the company’s history.

Producers Wahlberg and Levinson were actually able to use the current quarantine to make huge progress with Our Man In Jersey. During this time, the pair have held numerous FaceTime meetings with writers, one of which was Guggenheim.

It was during this discussion that the vision for Our Man In Jersey materialised. A 36-page outline was then written, which they provided to Netflix, who quickly jumped at the project.

Production is obviously unlikely to begin for a while, though. Those of you that want to see something similar to Our Man In New Jersey can watch Wahlberg beating up people in Spenser Confidential on Netflix now.

Or you can wait for James Bond’s return in No Time To Die, which will, hopefully, arrive on November 12, 2020.
