The Prudential Marina Bay Carnival hit the 1 million visitor mark this past weekend (3 March).

Occupying an area the size of three-and-a-half football fields at The Promontory and Bayfront Event Space, the carnival – which organisers call Singapore’s biggest – has seen record attendance since it opened on 8 December 2017.

A media release from the organisers said that on 3 March 2018, the millionth visitor, 42-year-old Mel Tan, and his family were presented with a gift pack that includes S$888 in cash and S$888 worth of Carnival credits.

Tan said that he and his wife make the effort to take their kids out each weekend, and decided to visit the Carnival that evening at the suggestion of his seven-year-old son.

“I’m glad we decided to make the visit today – this is our first time to the carnival, and being the millionth visitor is such a pleasant surprise,” said Tan.

The carnival, set to run till 1 April 2018, features some 40 rides and games brought in from overseas, including the Star Flyer – a tower ride that gives visitors 360-degree view of the Singapore skyline 35m in the air.

There is also a rotating thrill ride called Mach 5 which reaches 96km/h in under eight seconds, among other iconic rides such as the pirate ship.

Mr Barnabas Chia, Lead of the organising team behind the carnival, said, “This has truly been a colourful and fun-filled carnival for the people and we are heartened by the support we have been receiving.”
