Mariah Carey shares new video for 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'

The pop star premiered on YouTube livestream a new visual for the holiday tune, which finally reached No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart 25 years after its release.

The new Joseph Khan-directed clip contrasts with the grainy footage in the original video, which was shot in 1994 in upstate New York.

The visual follows Carey as she takes a little girl in her own winter wonderland, which is populated with Santas on ice skates, dancing polar bears and toy soldiers.

"There's a lot of things to be discovered in this clip. We wanted to make a modern classic. That's kind of been the theme of this song," the songstress explained in a special Q&A on YouTube.

In addition to being immortalized in a brand new visual, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" also received its own Amazon mini-documentary earlier this month.

The short film dives into the history of the 1994 holiday classic through insights from Carey herself and her collaborators.

The new visual for "All I Want For Christmas Is You" arrives a few weeks after Carey unveiled a 25th anniversary reissue of her "Merry Christmas" album, which notably features unreleased covers of holiday standards like "Silent Night" and "Joy to the World."

The two-disc deluxe reissue also includes a selection of previously-unreleased live takes from her 1994 performance at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City.

During the YouTube Q&A, Carey hinted that she was working on a new album with new collaborators, which she elusively described as "two different guys." "The more the merrier, I always say. It's Christmas!" she added.

Details about the forthcoming full-length, which would mark Carey's 16th studio project, are still scarce to this date.

The yet-untitled opus would follow her latest studio album, "Caution," which the pop star dropped in November 2018.
