Margot Robbie joins cast of Peter Rabbit movie

She’s a huge star after bringing beloved DC character Harley Quinn to life; now, Margot Robbie is joining the live-action debut of a somewhat older, considerably more family friendly character.

Deadline report the Australian actress is in advanced talks to join the cast of ‘Peter Rabbit,’ a live-action/CGI take on Beatrix Potter’s classic children’s story characters.

British actor-turned-US talk show host James Corden is already confirmed to voice the animated title character, whilst Domnhall Glesson will portray his live-action nemesis Mr McGregor. Rose Byrne will also appear in an as-yet unspecified live action role, whilst Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki also take voice roles.

It is not yet confirmed whether Robbie’s role in the film is live-action or voice work.

Will Gluck, director of ‘Easy A,’ ‘Friends With Benefits’ and the 2014 ‘Annie’ remake is calling the shots on this Sony production. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Rob Lieber (‘Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day’).

Beatrix Potter’s characters have enjoyed renewed popularity among younger viewers off the back of recent Nickelodeon cartoon series ‘Peter Rabbit’, shown on CBeebies in the UK.

‘Peter Rabbit’ will reportedly go into production at Animal Logic VFX studio in Australia in January, with the film’s release provisionally set for April 2018.
