Man Utd learn ‘transfer truth’ as Ten Hag is ‘informed’ of Bayern’s verdict on Liverpool midfield target
According to reports, Man Utd and Liverpool have learned whether they will be able to sign Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich this summer.
The 21-year-old joined Bayern Munich last year from Dutch giants Ajax. The potential total fee for the midfielder is around £20m including add-ons.
Gravenberch has played 31 times across all competitions this season but he has been restricted to just two starts in the Bundesliga.
This has fuelled talk that he could leave Bayern Munich after just one season. Liverpool have been heavily linked with him in recent weeks and he is understood to be among their midfield targets.
Man Utd are also admirers of Gravenberch and they are looking to strengthen in the middle of the pitch this summer.
But Christian Falk has revealed to Caught Offside that Man Utd have been told the ‘transfer truth’ regarding Gravenberch.
A deal for the Dutchman is understood to be unlikely as Bayern Munich ‘do not want to sell’ him.
‘Player sales could bring in money. But Barcelona’s interest in Joshua Kimmich is in vain. Bayern will not sell Kimmich,’ Falk wrote for Caught Offside.
‘Manchester United will also have a hard time getting Ryan Gravenberch. As previously noted for Liverpool: Bayern does not want to sell the Dutchman. Management has already been informed of this.’
Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich is another player being looked at by Premier League clubs and ex-Liverpool star Sadio Mane is apparently wanted by Man Utd and Newcastle.
But Falk is of the view that Mane is yet to ‘give any signal’ to Bayern Munich that he is looking to move elsewhere.
‘Again and again, there are reports from England that Premier League clubs are interested in Sadio Mane,’ Falk added.
‘But Munich is yet to receive an offer from either Manchester United or Newcastle. Up to this point, Sadio Mané isn’t giving any signal to the club that he would leave Munich.’
Earlier this month, ex-Liverpool defender Kolo Toure told his former club should not re-sign Mane this summer.
“I think losing [Sadio] Mane was big for them… Mane, for me, was special for them because he could score goals and provide goals, but he also had a big personality. He’s a player that when it was tough, he was able to make the difference,” Toure told The Daily Mirror.
“But I still believe they are looking for the new version [of Liverpool]. Jurgen is looking to refresh his team and look for the players who are going to fit well in the team.”
