Malia Obama Was Spotted in New York City Rocking New Braids
Malia Obama has been busy studying away at Harvard all year, but the eldest daughter of Barack and Michelle is officially on summer vacation. The 19-year-old was spotted on the streets of New York City wearing a new set of ultra-long, summer-ready braids pulled back into a half-up bun.
This isn't the first time Malia has worn braids publicly, but it is a departure from her signature straight-wavy style. We love how she left two braids loose around her face, while pulling the rest back into a half-up bun. With a water bottle in hand and wearing Soulcycle leggings, Malia was likely heading to or leaving a workout class.
The rising college sophomore was spotted in New York City in January of this year with her rumored boyfriend Rory Farquharson, who also attends Harvard University. She previously spent her gap year and time away from school holding internships in film and television production. She reportedly worked on the set of HBO's Girls and with the now-disgraced Weinstein Company.
Fitness has long been a touchstone of the entire Obama family. Michelle and daughter Sasha have been spotted doing yoga while on vacation in Hawaii. The former FLOTUS was also reportedly a regular at Barry's Bootcamp in Washington D.C. Michelle also inspired millions of women to pick up dumbbells for the first time when we first caught a glimpse of her bare, toned arms. Of course, there was also the Obama-era public health campaign to eliminate childhood obesity called Let's Move.
