Good news, fans of castella cakes residing in the west: Malaysia’s Ah Mah Homemade Cake, popular for their version of the sensational Taiwanese dessert since launching across the border in April, will be opening a Singapore outlet at Bukit Panjang Plaza on 14 July.

According to Ah Mah Homemade Cake in a media announcement on Tuesday (4 July), the brand has expanded to 14 outlets across Malaysia within three months, having sold over 100,000 boxes of the famous jiggly spongecakes.

The cakes, typically baked for 80 minutes, are mainly made of milk, eggs and flour, and come in various flavours. Singaporeans can look out for two flavours – original and cheese – at Ah Mah Homemade Cake’s upcoming outlet here.

The news of their Singapore debut came just three months after the popular Taiwanese brand, LE Castella, launched its first outlet in eastern Singapore at Tampines One mall, attracting hordes of fans lining up at the outlet for over an hour.

However, it was unfortunate for many residents of the west who had complained about the LE Castella outlet being located too far away – a problem that is now solved. However, do prepare to queue, as Ah Mah Homemade Cake has recorded an average queue time of between 45 to 60 minutes.
