Malaysian pop trio, KRU, are disbanding after their final concert
19 Apr – Legendary Malaysian pop trio, KRU, will be breaking up after their final concert later this year.
The disbanding of the 90s' pop boy band was announced at a press conference held in Kuala Lumpur where the trio made up of brothers, Datuk Norman, Yusry and Edry Abdul Halim, shared the reasons of the breakup.
"As a team we have achieved all that we wanted so far but we all have our own responsibilities now. It's time to look ahead and move forward with our own projects," said a teary eyed Norman, the eldest brother of the group, who also thanked all their fans and family for the support over the years.
It's a shame to watch one of the greatest revolutionaries of the Malaysian music scene to be disbanded but nevertheless, their efforts and deeds which they have achieved will forever make them a staple as Malaysian musical icons.
Since their debut in 1992, they have produced iconic hits such as "Awas" and "Ooh! La! La!".
Their most recent award was earned by Edry for Top Composer during the 25th anniversary of the Music Author's Copyright Protection (MACP)
There will be one last chance to catch KRU though. Their final performance, "Konsert Gergasi KRU25", is taking place this 4 to 6 May at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur.
