Malaysian singer Siti Nurhaliza has revealed that she regards her struggling efforts at trying to conceive as one of the biggest challenges in her life.

Speaking to Malaysian newspaper Kosmo!, the 39-year-old pop icon said that she and her husband, Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, 59, tried for a child for 11 years prior to the arrival of their now five-month-old daughter Siti Aafiyah.

“I tried everything to get a child, modern medicine, traditional ways, and lots of prayers. I had to also stop working while pregnant and that was one of the sacrifices I had to make,” she said.

The singer also shared that this year’s Hari Raya Haji celebration was more “meaningful” to her as she was able to spend it with her daughter.

“This year is special because I can provide a few sections (of the korban) for Siti Aafiyah,” she said, adding that she was able to share her earnings and distribute korban (sacrifice) to a few places.

Nurhaliza gave birth to her daughter in March this year via caesarean section.
