The mala trend comes to McDonald's in the form of Mala McShaker Fries

SINGAPORE — The mala craze has finally hit McDonald’s. From 31 December onwards, Mala McShaker Fries will be available at McDonald’s Singapore restaurants.

The fast food chain promises a numbingly spicy kick with the new menu item, which it says consists of its classic fries “tossed in a blend of Szechuan peppercorns, chilli powder, and other umami spices”.

Mala McShaker Fries are available a la carte from S$3.50, or as an add-on to any Extra Value Meal for S$0.70.

If you upsize your McSpicy Meal, McDonald’s will double the heat factor by automatically changing your fries to Mala fries. It’s a good dare for spice lovers.

If you’re dining as a pair and both of you really like spicy food, you can enjoy the 2x Value Meal from S$15, which comes with two sets of Upsized Extra Value Meals that include two McSpicy burgers, two Mala McShaker Fries, and two medium Cokes.

McDonald’s also announced the new Breakfast McSaver Meals, available from 4 January 2021, which consist of either the Egg McMuffin, Sausage McMuffin or Chicken Muffin and a hashbrown and a hot coffee or tea. A Breakfast McSaver Meal will cost just S$4.50.

Note, however, that the promotional price for Breakfast McSaver Meals is not available at McDonald’s outlets at Lucky Plaza, Resorts World Sentosa, Lido and Gardens By the Bay.

To bring more New Year cheer, the McDonald’s app’s Mega Deals Festival will have 1-for-1 deals in the month of January, for a la carte McSpicy (4-6 January), Double Filet-O-Fish (11-13 January) and Breakfast Deluxe (25-27 January).

From 4 January, new members on the My McDonald’s App will also enjoy a welcome deal of a S$2 McSpicy with any purchase.
