Mak Lampir star Farida Pasha passed away

19 Jan - Veteran Indonesian actress Farida Pasha, most famous for her character Mak Lampir, has recently passed away.

The news was shared by the 68 year-old's granddaughter Ify Alyssa through WhatsApp, which read, "Our grandmother Hajjah Farida Pasha Ali Husen has returned to her Maker on 16 January 2021, at 7.35pm [local time]... Thank you for all the love, support, and prayers that all of you have sent her way from the moment she was ill to her last breath."

Farida's daughter Gina Sonia shared that her mother was hospitalised previously for vertigo, and was subsequently diagnosed with early-stage pneumonia.

"The results of the early screening tests showed that mama was positive for COVID-19," she said.

Born in Tasik Malaya, West Java on 21 August 1952, Farida Pasha had starred in more than 50 films, including, "Guna-Guna Istri Muda" and "The Secret Suster Ngesot Urban".

However, she was most known as the horror legend Mak Lampir, having played the character in the sinetron "Misteri Gunung Merapi" and its sequel.
