Maine Mendoza defends Arjo Atayde over protocol breach

20 Aug – Maine Mendoza has defended boyfriend Arjo Atayde over alleged breach of COVID-19 protocol, after the actor left Baguio City despite being tested positive for the coronavirus.

The actress recently responded to a Twitter user who accused her of tolerating Arjo's illegal behaviour, stating that people do not understand the whole story.

"And I hope he gets the chance to tell his side and the context of what had happened these past few days. I also hope you do not base your judgements solely on what you see online because you might just be seeing an angle of the real scenario," she wrote.

It is noted that Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong previously called for a probe against Arjo and a group of the film crew of his movie after they were revealed to have left their locked-in situation while filming in the said city despite having been tested positive for COVID-19.

Arjo's studio Feelmaking Productions had since released a statement saying that the actor returned to Manila for treatment due to his pre-existing medical condition, stressing that they are working with the Baguio administration over the issue.
