Maine Mendoza apologises for old offensive tweets

19 Apr – Maine Mendoza recently took to Twitter to apologise for her decade-old tweets that were deemed offensive by many.

On 16 April, the 26 year-old Kapuso star posted a couple of tweets saying that she has been receiving a lot of messages about the tweets she made from the early 2010s, where she used the N-word and "bading" (gay) as an insult.

She expressed, "Sending my sincerest apologies to those whom I have offended with my tweets way back then. It was my careless self talking and I didn't mean to offend anyone. I am sincerely sorry."

The "Daddy's Gurl" actress stated that she has learned to be more careful with her thoughts and words and how it would affect others throughout the years.

"Hope you hear me out this time. Praying for everyone's safety and sanity in these trying times," she added.

It is noted that Mendoza would have been in her mid-teens when she posted the tweets. The actress also had since deleted the old posts from her social media.

On the other hand, the actress' "Eat Bulaga" co-star Ciara Sotto expressed her support for Mendoza, tweeting, "You are not defined by your past mistakes. Whatever you've been through doesn't have to be the end of you. You are valuable and irreplaceable. And I love you."
