‘The Magicians’ Casts Christopher Gorham; ‘Outcast’ Adds C. Thomas Howell

Covert Affairs alum Christopher Gorham is set for a recurring role on the second season of Syfy’s The Magicians. Based on the bestselling novels from Lev Grossman, The Magicians centers on Quentin (Jason Ralph), a brilliant grad student chosen to attend Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy, a secret upstate New York university specializing in magic. Gorham will play Sen. John Gaines, who discovers he’s in possession of unusual abilities. Gorham is in post-production on his feature film directorial debut, the comedy We Love You, Sally Carmichael!, in which he also stars. He recently starred indie film Po and an be seen on Audience Network’s limited series Full Circle. He’s repped CAA, Thruline Entertainment and attorney Eric Brooks. Season 2 of The Magicians is set to return in winter 2017.

C. Thomas Howell (The Amazing Spider-Man) has booked a recurring role on the second season of Outcast, Robert Kirkman’s exorcism drama on Cinemax. From The Walking Dead creator Kirkman, Outcast follows Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a journey to find answers, but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it. Howell will play a mysterious figure with a dark agenda who comes to Rome. Howell was most recently seen as Paul on TNT’s Animal Kingdom. His other recent TV credits include recurring roles on Stitchers, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce and Grimm.
