Mackenzie Davis Joins Ryan Gosling In Blade Runner Sequel

Mackenzie Davis has joined the cast of the increasingly-promising ‘Blade Runner’ sequel from director Denis Villeneuve, alongside Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford.

Davis - who was last seen in the realms of sci-fi as part of the team working to bring back Matt Damon in Ridley Scott’s smash hit 'The Martian’- joins ahead of the start of filming in July (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Plot details regarding the unexpected sequel are, as you’d expect, thin on the group, but it is thought that the story takes place a few decade after the original - which was released in 1984 and set in 2019.

At the very least this will account for Harrison Ford’s more vintage appearance, as he reprises his role as replicant hunter Rick Deckard.

Villeneuve has proven a popular choice as director, following his celebrated thriller 'Sicario’ which was a success, but not quite the success it deserved to be during the past awards season.

Gosling, Ford and Davis lead a cast that also includes ‘House of Cards’ star Robin Wight, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista and Ana de Armas.

Davis is best known for 'The Martian’, a recurring role in US TV series 'Halt and Catch Fire’, 'What If’ and comedy 'That Awkward Moment’ - which she starred alongside Zac Efron.

The untitled 'Blade Runner’ sequel is set for release on 6 October 2017.
