This is how the MAC Cosmetics x Selena lipsticks look on five different women
The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here: the MAC x Selena collection is officially launching in two days! After months of teases and previews, fans of the legendary Selena Quintanilla and makeup lovers alike will be able to get their dazzling claws on this highly anticipated collection. While the official release happens online on October 1st and in stores October 6th, lucky MAC Select customers at the Devoted and Obsessed levels (aka the hardcore MAC shoppers) were already able to place their orders yesterday for the lush lipsticks and stunning shadows created in homage to the Tejano queen.
The 13-piece collection includes three lipsticks, plus one pink lip gloss called Bidi Bidi Bom Bom that will exclusively be available online; five eyeshadows, a liquid eyeliner in MAC’s classic Boot Black shade, mascara, a powder brush, and a bronze blush duo compact.
Here at HelloGiggles, we were able to get our hands on the line early to try the products out ourselves. SPOILER ALERT: we loved them all!
While the eyeshadows, such as the purple-hued Selena were GORGE, we took our time to test out the lipsticks — especially because Selena was known for the rich red pout she sported both onstage and off. No word on how many pizza slices Selena left her lipstick mark on — she loved pizza like NO OTHER!
The original shade Selena wore was “Brick” by Chanel, which has since been discontinued. Luckily, MAC found a way to replicate the same color and named it “Como La Flor,” after one of her hit songs.

There had to be a nude in this collection, and Amor Prohibido, which means Forbidden Love and is named after Selena’s fourth album, was a perfect choice. It even impressed some of us never-nudes (those of us who ALWAYS wear a bright color lipstick, ahem).

MAC also included a deep red, almost burgundy lipstick in the line called Dreaming of You. This rich berry shade was perfectly ’90s and looked stunning on everyone. While everyone loved the signature red, this actually was the group favorite.
