This Luxury Tour Company Is Launching Its First Riverboat in Latin America — Here's a Sneak Peek
Abercrombie & Kent's "Pure Amazon" is scheduled to launch in 2025.
If you're ready to book that bucket-list trip to sail down the Amazon River in Peru, Abercrombie & Kent has the cruise for you. The luxury tour operator anticipates its new Pure Amazon riverboat to debut mid-2025, and sales are just about to open.
To whet your appetite for this adventure, we're bringing you a first look inside Pure Amazon. Interiors were designed by A&K Travel Group’s architect Adriana Granato of Studio Ibsen, who collaborated with Peruvian artisans to root the design in local traditions. The 10 suites and two solo cabins are outfitted with handcrafted furniture and textiles, which highlight local materials and hues — they pair well with the Amazon rainforest and river views through the expansive picture windows. You'll also find locally crafted furnishings elsewhere on the ship, from its indoor and outdoor lounges to the dining room, which has creative menus of Amazon-influenced cuisine.
And if you're wondering what you can expect from life on board, every day will be filled with activity. There will be wildlife sightings, of course. Highlights might include pink river dolphins, birds of paradise, or slow-paced sloths.
Guests will also have the opportunity to visit local villages and participate in community-led conservation initiatives. And then there are the active adventures, from kayaking the Amazon River to fishing for piranha to taking a night hike to spot nocturnal creatures.
"Our first riverboat in Latin America is an exciting new chapter in A&K's legacy of luxury expedition cruising," Cristina Levis, CEO of Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group, said in a statement provided to Travel + Leisure. "With her launch, we invite guests to embark on a transformative journey into the very soul of the Amazon, where unparalleled adventures intertwine with the warm hospitality and exceptional service that define every A&K voyage."
Pure Amazon will sail three- and four-night itineraries that can be combined for a week-long adventure. Bookings will open in August, but you can pre-register your interest at sanctuaryretreats.com.
