Talk about selling a lifestyle.
Luisa Beccaria’s spring show on Friday, held inside her showroom in the arty Brera district, was a staged peek inside that bohemian aristocrat vibe she masters so effortlessly, in life as well as in fashion.

The warehouse-like show space was filled with carts and tables decked out in floral baskets and bouquets, models air-kissing and twirling together after walking the catwalk. An all-female, all-smiling string quartet’s performance added to the gooey atmosphere.
Enamored with the beauty of natural landscapes and anything that’s leisurely but sophisticated, the designer, who oftentimes trades the city for the countryside, played by her rule book with flounced midi dresses, feather-light blouses and girly crop top and midi skirt sets, floral-embossed organdy and lace scattered with a handful of clear sequins.
Within her romantic vocabulary she allowed herself some exploration: chiffon ruffled frocks and summery numbers with abstract floral-nodding prints in flashy magenta red, periwinkle blue and mint green opened the show. Full-skirted dresses and midi skirts worn with matching bustier tops swathed in tiny sequins added newfound zing to her mannered fashion. Ditto for refreshing dégradé looks nodding to the rich hues of the sky at dusk.
