Love Island's Georgia Harrison thanks Strictly star for campaign help
Former Love Island contestant Georgia Harrison has credited the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant and MP Ed Balls for helping her with her campaign to draw attention to victims of revenge porn.
Harrison's ex-boyfriend Stephen Bear was arrested in January 2021 and charged in May the same year, after he secretly filmed a sexual encounter with Georgia on CCTV in his garden and then uploaded it online to OnlyFans.
He was found guilty of voyeurism, and two counts of disclosing private, sexual photos and films in 2022, and began his 21-month sentence in March 2023.
During the trial, Harrison waived her right to anonymity, and used her platform to raise awareness for victims of similar crimes, launching a campaign to call for stronger sentences against those who share explicit images without consent – and she has credited Ed Balls from taking her from "reality star to campaigner."

Harrison appeared on Good Morning Britain on Friday (27 October), where a pre-recorded video message from Balls was played for her:
"It's your determination, your passion, your experience, your absolute mission to change things for other people that would make you a totally brilliant politician. You've got to do it," it said.
"I can tell you, there'd be so many who'd love to help you, from all sides of politics. You've just got to ask."
In response, Harrison said: "I'm so so grateful to Ed; it really was him who took me from a reality star to a campaigner."

She then added that there may be a further foray into politics in her future.
"Potentially, I would like to work in politics. I think it would be good especially for someone my age to be pursuing that. From Love Island to Parliament."
Harrison appeared on TOWIE in 2014, before appearing on Love Island in 2017.
Balls, a former Labour MP and Shadow chancellor, appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020; he lasted until week 10 with partner Katya Jones.
