Love is Blind host Nick Lachey has opened up about the now-infamous technical issues that plagued the Netflix dating show's live reunion special.

The reunion was scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET but as fans switched on the stream, they were greeted with messages saying that the live stream would begin soon. Other viewers couldn't even the player to load at all, however.

Later, a new message read: "There’s an issue with the livestream. Hang tight! We’re trying to fix it as soon as possible." In an interview with SiriusXM’s Radio Andy, Lachey opened up about this mishap to host Andy Cohen.

"I appreciate what you said after the fact because I think very few people understand like you do what all goes into that and what’s involved," Lachey said.

Cohen, who is the host of the reunion shows for The Real Housewives, told Lachey that he thought the livestreaming event was a "bad idea" to begin with.

"There is a lot of grist to go through before you get to the prime beef, and there is a reason they’re edited down," Cohen said.

Lachey replied: "To your point, a reunion, there’s so many things you want to flush out, so many things you want to get to and to try to do that in a timetable that’s finite is not the way to go."

At the time, co-host Vanessa Lachey apologised to viewers but assured them they hadn't missed a thing. Love is Blind has just returned with a fifth season.

Love Is Blind season 5 premiered on Friday, September 22 on Netflix.
