Louis Vuitton's new leather bag LV Pont 9 is a hit with celebrities
Artistic director of womenswear for Parisian house Louis Vuitton Nicolas Ghesquière is one of the most lauded figures in the luxury space, and his work is very much loved and respected on and off the runway. His departure from Balenciaga may be missed, but his tenure at Louis Vuitton continues to push boundaries while merging old traditions with new.
Case in point, the new LV Pont 9 shoulder bag, which is the brand’s latest embodiment of effortless Parisian chic. The new design takes its name from Paris’ Pont Neuf, the oldest and most celebrated bridge that sits opposite Louis Vuitton’s headquarters in Paris. It also marks the first release of the house’s new LV Pont 9 leather line.
Ghesquière unearthed the Louis Vuitton Circle, a 1930s archival logo to complete the look of the new bag, on top of its rounded design and calfskin leather. The interior features a smart design with two compartments and two practical pockets.
There are five striking colours as part of the new leather line: understated tones Noir, and Crème; vibrant colours Summer Gold, vibrant Rose Dahlia and dreamy Bleu Orage.
The new bag has already been spotted on celebrities such as Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner, to Deepika Padukone, Zhong Chouxi and Alicia Vikander.
The Louis Vuitton Pont 9 bag is S$5,350 and is available from 29 May onwards. Fans can also purchase the bag on the Louis Vuitton Webstore.
